Technology Account Director

New York & San Francisco

Bite is looking for an Account Director who loves enterprise / B2B technology. The really geeky kind – we want to see your eyes light up when you talk about big data, storage, and cloud (no, not the puffy kind). We need you to help our high-tech clients spread the gospel of geek! The right Biter for this job will be a great communicator and strategist with 7-12 years’ experience in the trenches of technology communications. And, bonus points, also good with the people, the boss of everyone’s dreams and a client whisperer–able to get clients, keep clients, and grow clients.

As an Account Director, you will:

  • Be your clients’ strategic counselor
  • Be an agency-wide leader
  • Be a business manager—not only managing accounts, but helping to  manage the agency as a whole
  • Be an account leader—responsible for profitability, resourcing and growth
  • Manage 1-5 staff
  • Create strategic plans, both the communications and operational components
  • Turn strategy into stories, and stories into influence, because you write/develop impeccable content and are able to activate it across any  medium (digital, traditional, social)
  • Develop integrated campaigns across traditional, social media digital and in-person communications
  • Maintain a portfolio of very strategic influencer relationships, which you regularly activate for clients
  • Take the lead on internal agency initiatives—training, process  improvement, recruiting, etc.
  • Identify, manage and close new business pitches on a regular basis to maintain revenue load targets
  • Help the marketing team come up with ideas, and produce/deliver Bite content
  • Have an existing roster of industry contacts and actively network, represent Bite at events
  • Make sure accounts have the right resources, and then manage accounts to budget/profitably—meet billing targets, analyze trends, ensure  profitability, track budgets, conserve resources

You, the Bite Account Director of our dreams, will have:

  •  7-12 years’ experience in agency and/or in-house communications or marketing with direct experience working with enterprise tech brands
  • Experience managing people and/or teams (and those people love you)
  • Leadership, sound judgment, professionalism, planning abilities, organization, ability to multi-task
  • Proven media and influencer relations experience and understanding of the media landscape with established relationships with key media and influencers – i.e. influencers know your name and take your calls
  • Social media and digital programming experience
  • Ability to look into your clients’ souls and anticipate their needs, think on the fly, and provide both strategic and tactical counsel that makes them shine (and Bite in the process)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
